Luke 19:35–38 paints a beautiful picture of Jesus entering Jerusalem. The people brought the colt to Him, laid their garments upon it, and set Jesus on it. As He rode, they spread their clothes in the way and lifted their voices in praise, saying, “Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord.” This was more than a public celebration—it was a moment of honor, surrender, and recognition.

Jesus came as King, but He did not come in pride or earthly splendor. He came humbly, riding on a colt. The people praised Him for the mighty works they had seen, but this moment also reminds us that Jesus deserves our praise not only for what He does, but for who He is. He is the King sent by God, full of peace, glory, and salvation.

This passage challenges us to ask: How do we welcome Jesus into our lives? The people laid down their garments before Him, a sign of honor and surrender. In the same way, we are called to lay down our pride, our plans, and our burdens before the Lord. True worship is not only in what we say, but in how we make room for Him to reign in our hearts.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I welcome You as King and Savior in my life. Help me to honor You with my praise, my surrender, and my obedience. Teach me to lay down everything at Your feet and rejoice in who You are. Blessed are You, the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen.
