Opening Thought: Some of you, might remember an R& B group called, The Spinners. The group, once sang, “It takes a fool to learn that love don’t love nobody.” Those words capture the reality of human relationships—sometimes love fades, people walk away, and we are left with broken hearts. Many of us have felt the sting of giving all our love, only to find it wasn’t enough. But the good news of the Gospel is this: Jesus offers us a love that never fails, never leaves, and never runs out.
The Limits of Human Love
The song reminds us that people can disappoint us: “I gave her all the love I had within, my love was strong, something went wrong.” That’s human love—it’s imperfect, fragile, and limited. Even our best efforts fall short. No matter how much we try, we cannot guarantee someone’s loyalty, affection, or faithfulness. But here’s the contrast: God’s love never fails. Where human love ends, God’s love begins.
The Love of Jesus is Different
Jesus didn’t just say He loved us; He demonstrated it. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The song says, “Love don’t love nobody,” but Scripture says the opposite:
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
1 John 4:9–10 – “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.”
Human love may walk out the door, but divine love walked up Calvary’s hill and stretched out His arms on the cross for you and me.
Love That Never Lets Go
1 Corinthians 13:8 tells us, “Love never fails.” Jesus’ love is not conditional, seasonal, or fragile. It’s eternal. Paul reminds us in Romans 8:38–39 that nothing—no heartbreak, no mistake, no sin, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
So where the world sings, “love don’t love nobody,” the Gospel declares, “Jesus loves everybody.”
Application for Us Today
If you’ve been hurt by human love—remember that God’s love heals.
If you’ve been abandoned—Jesus promised, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
If you feel unworthy of love—remember the cross, where Christ proved your worth.
Jesus’ love fills the emptiness left behind by broken relationships. His love redeems our past, renews our present, and secures our future.
Closing Word: The Spinners sang about a love that disappoints. But the Bible sings about a love that saves. Human love may fade, but Jesus’ love never will. He loved us enough to die for us, and He loves us enough to live in us today.
Remember this truth: “Love loves everybody—because Jesus is Love.”
